Fabric Basket
This is The Small Object's fabric basket pattern from the Crafter's Companion. I am pretty happy with the final product, though I suspect I did something wrong or there are mistakes in the pattern. The lining didn't fit in properly, and the top won't cinch all the way like in the photo. Since there are other nice examples of this pattern out in blogland, I suspect I did something wrong somewhere. Oh well, it still works. I kind of like it plain, but I'm contemplating adding some embroidery or buttons to it. Eh.

It looks great! I just got this book and would love to try and make one of these for myself as well.

The exact same thing happened to me. I'm glad I'm not the only one! I (sort of) fixed it by unpicking the casing stitching and making the casing about half as narrow, which frees up more fabric so you can cinch it tighter. It does look cool, though!

I love the way it turned out. This is one of the patterns in the book that I didn't think I'd get around to making, but I really like yours. It looks so useful that really I might need to make one.

I made a version of this basket too, and I was pretty pleased with it. I found the lining didn't fit too well either - I think this might be because it was constructed in a different way to the outer. next time I would make the inner and outer in the same way, and use a really fine cotton for the drawstring bit so it will gather as tightly as possible. Otherwise, great! I love your fabrics.
