dishcloth
I'm wedding hopping/on vacation this week, so lots of airplane crafting. One cross country flight = one crochet dishcloth. I wanted to try out some new crochet stitches in anticipation of making a scarf or something, so I got the Vogue crochet stitch dictionary out of the library. If this pattern is any indication, I wouldn't recommend it. It was overly complicated and poorly written. About 3 rows in I figured out a much easier way to do it. This one was made with peaches and cream cotton yarn. If anybody's interested, I can write up a little pattern.

I would be interested in the pattern. Or even just instructions for the stitch, it would make a nice striped scarf!

i'd love the pattern, if it's not too much bother. I've been meaning to try making a few dishcloths, but haven't gotten around to it yet. i love the stripes.

I'd love a pattern! That stitch is great. (My name's Elissa, and I've been reading for a while, never commented.)

I'm making an afghan that looks like a similar stitch. I was inspired by the photo of the chair w/afghan on Yarnstorm a few posts back. I've been doing double crochet into the space. It's really easy and fun. I'm using all sorts of wacky colors. :)

I know what you mean about that book, I borrowed it from my local library just a week ago. I don't normally return books early, but that one is going back. I wanted to take my stitches past the single/double crochet phase (I know more than that, but not too many stitch combos). It's frustrating, I really like crocheting, but have had a hard time finding patterns that I like. I have found that even the "hip" new patterns that have been coming out are still, well, I don't know, just not my style. I'm going to start ranting so I will stop myself now. Good luck finding a crochet stitch dictionary that is worth a hoot. I will keep a look out and let me know if you find something before I do! Cheers!

i have a book called "crochet school" which has a ton of crochet stitches, including some hairpin lace and other crazy stuff, and i am able to follow it, and i am not the best with diagrams. also, most of donna kooler's stitch dictionaries are easy to follow. she has a crochet, knitting and even embroidery i think. i think vogue is notoriously crap with their patterns. easy to diffult.
