Ah yes, binding...the scourge of the quilting world. Or, at least, my quilting world. But it looks beautiful, and I think the quilting you did was a better choice than what the book suggests.

I think it looks wonderful! Great color choice! And sometimes you just have to take the shortcut. The handsewn binding on my last quilt took me longer to do than the piecing, and quilting put together!

Congrats on finishing it, it's lovely! Lucky baby! I'm with you on getting the quilting down, I'm still terrified of it. That's why I have 3 quilts waiting to be quilted.

Beautiful! That quilt looks great. Binding is the toughest thing for me ... four it looks like? LOL I always get to the binding and then just stop for a while. I am making a baby blanket/quilt right now too and it's the binding that is holding me up.

so pretty! The colors give this quilt an entirely different look than the one in her book, I like it. You know, I'm not crazy about the crosshatch pattern done on the one in the book either.

I just finished a Denyse Schmidt quilt for my neice and she is already six months old. Mine also pieced quickly and than took forever to finish. I did the binding all at once on the machine and it is a bit wonky, but I'm pleased with it overall. And I got it to her before her sweet sixteen so that's a good thing.

I once had someone work on a baby blanket for one of my kids for about three years, so 2 months isn't that bad. :)

I've been looking for some inspiration for a baby quilt I need to make, I hadn't thought to scale this pattern down but yours turned out fabulous. I really like the clean colors and the blues you chose to use. Incredibly beautiful!

It looks fantastic! And from the 'glass is half full' school of thought, not only do you have a wonderful finished quilt - you have learnt a considerable sum about quilting too. [Which is much better than learning valuable lessons from UFOs which lurk in the cupboard radiating a malignant presence. : ) ]

I love the colours you used - I am in the middle of hand quilting my version of Ice Pops - well really it is sat there waiting for me to carry on with it as I got very fed up with quilting it. However, seeing yours has given me the kick I needed to get it finished- thank you.

Well, dispite what you may feel about it, I think it's beautiful! You know it took me more than a year to finish my first quilt. I'm hoping the get Denyse Schmidt's book for Christmas, the patterns are so great. I really love the colors, wonderful!

actually, i think that the binding really suits the look of the quilt. the "skewed" bit really adds so much more character. i love it.
