coffee cozy

We have this nice French press for making coffee, but by the time you want a second cup, it's gone cold. Just the job for a cozy. I got the idea from a Good Thing in the Sept 1997 Martha Stewart Living (thanks Marthadex!) but modified it to be reversible and to fasten with ties instead of velcro. The flowery side is quilted to a layer of thin batting for extra insulation. The towel for the reverse I bought solely for its zakka-ness, with no intention of using it as a kitchen towel.

that's such a good idea--I think I might have to make one for my french press too!

Great idea...makes me want to go heat up some coffee now!

I love this idea so much. My neighbor is a french press user and I have wanted to make her one of these for so long. I love the fabrics you chose, and the quilting is perfection. That Martha...I heart Martha.

Great idea. I decided to stop using the French press because I don't like cold coffee!

Now, a question. . . how do you sew on binding? I do a horrible job and decided to buy a binding tool only to find that it didn't fit my machine! Any tips would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

What a great idea! We have a French press and I am forever draping a tea towel over it to keep it warm.

what a perfect solution! leave it to crafty folks to solve such a problem, and make it look so fun!

A little press-cosy has been on my mind for awhile now. The dilemma is true, the second cup is always cold! I remember trying to buy one from MS's catalog, but she stopped carrying them. Seeing this, I think I'm just going to have to make one, too. My next project for sure. I LOVE yours, the quilting, and the fabric and the ties. So awesome!!

How clever! I may have to bring the French press again, and whip a cozy. Thanks!

That is sooo cute! the ties are such a better idea than velcro!

i LOVE this idea! i'd love to make one for a friend, but since I don't have a french press of my own, what's the finished size?

I've literally lost sleep over the cold bodum question. I too have long settled for the tea towell drape (it looks as though something has died on the counter and I could not bare to look at it). So-- your post is fantastic! (I love the ties... much prettier than hook and loop!)
