Beaded Squirrel

Funny crazed squirrel made of seed beads strung on wire, plus two sequins for eyes. The pattern's from a Japanese bead thing book I picked up at Bookoff. I also have the Klutz beadling book, which I've made a bunch of stuff from. There's an old Martha Stewart Kids with some patterns, too. I remember making a lobster from that. But nothing compares with this Japanese book. The cute animals and beaded food are my favorites, but it's hard to choose.

That is too cute! The pattern has definitely captured that perfect "squirrel" quality!

That is hilarious! At one point I wanted to make beaded veggies and creatures, but I never got around to it.

I love his beady little eyes. Would you share the title of the book?

Thanks for all the compliments! Unfortunately, the book's title is in Japanese, which I can't read, and it doesn't seem to have an ISBN I can look up. If you look on my library page, it's the 3rd book on the top row.

I love your squirrel, it reminds me of that little squirrly creature in the Ice Age movie. The title of the book is "Zettai tsukuritaku naru kantan beads mascot", which sorta means "I absolutely want to learn to make simple bead mascots."

Here are two books with awesome little animals, people, and houses, etc. to bead. Both Japanese but in English. Search Amazon with Ondori as the author for some great stuff.

I've gotten into beaded things, mostly rings, but some of my Japanese bead pattern books have various mascots to make. Since I can't read the text I can't figure out what type of wire to use. What did you use for your animals? Thanks!

I used the wire that came with the Klutz Beadlings kit. It needs to be small enough that 2 thicknesses can pass through a single bead. Besides that, anything would work. Good luck!
