Martha Stewart Baby
I entered the 3 issues I have of MS Baby into the Marthadex. I only have Spring 2001, Fall 2002, and Spring 2003. If anybody out there has some of the other ones, I would love to have them. :)
The extra magazine makes the advanced search formatting all wonky now, though. I'm going to have to fiddle with it.

im confused by the marthadex
do you get to few the articles? or ...no?
Posted by: ashley at March 8, 2005 07:00 PM
Nope, it's just an index of the magazine article titles and recipes. Putting the actual articles up would 1. take forever and 2. be illegal. It's just to help find articles and recipes in the issues I have. Like, I want to make cupcakes but forget which issue has the recipe. So I would type cupcakes in the search and select recipe as the entry type, and it outputs all the cupcake recipes in the database. Then I go and get my copy of the right magazine and use the recipe. It's not so useful unless you have a collection of the magazines. I'm going to redesign it one of these days, so hopefully it'll make more sense.

You're genius. I wish I could do something like that with my vintage craft books/projects. But I just don't know all that much about programming. The Marthadex amazes me.

last time I looked-back issues of martha baby were available on the MSL website-but now that the MSL catalog isn't avaiable, maybe they aren't there anymore either?
I have them all and could loan them to you for this fab Marthadex project of yours-

Directions for Martha Stewart Pillowcase dress!!!
In addition to pillowcase and the template(you can email me at llucio78@yahoo.com for template..it's an easy draw), you need stiff paper to make a pattern, scissors for cutting fabric, 1 yard of bias tape, matching thread, and 2 yards of 3/8-inch-wide ribbon.
1. Wash, dry and press pillowcase. Trace enlarged template onto stiff paper to make pattern, adding to it as directed; cut out. Fold pillowcase in half lengthwise, aligning edges. Lay pattern on pillowcase so bottom of pattern lines up with open end (hem) and armhole side lines up with open doubled edges. Cut pillow case along top edge(neckline) and armhole curve only.
3. Cut 2 pieces of bias tape to length of armhole. Pn a strip to right side of each armhole, unfolding one fold of bias tape before pinning as shown. With matching thread, stitch bias tape to pillowcase material directly in fold line, leaving 1/4-inch seam allowance.
3. Snip bias tape and pillowcase material every1/2 inch or so along inside curve of armhole without snipping into seam.
4. Fold bias tape along stitching line so it's completely inside armhole, none showing from outside. Pin, then stitch it down with matching thread, leaving 3/8-inch seam allowance.
5. Turn pillowcase inside out. Fold top edge down twice, first making a 1/4-inch fold, then a fold at least 5/8 inch deep; press. Pin it in place, then stitch at least 1/2 inch from top edge to create a hollow channel, or casing. Cut two yard-long pieces of ribbon. Attach a safety pin to one end of each; thread one ribbon through each channel. Gather fabric along ribbon so neckline is proper width to reach from shoulder to shoulder. Tack ribbons in place at ends of neckline in front and back. Snip ends of ribbons at 45-degree angle so they don't unravel. Turn dress right side out. Tie ribbons into bows for shoulder straps.

So you can totally buy all but one (can't remember which) of the MS Baby back issues. There's a number on the Martha Stewart website. It'll direct you to the right place to call. It's only like $4 or $5 an issue (waaaaaay cheaper than they're selling on ebay!

Hi. I earlier posted about the Martha Stewart dress. I apologize but I no longer have the magazine, so please don't email me for the template or anything. I would advise trying to get the magazine on ebay or even a used book store with magazines. I have lucked out that way sometimes. Or the back issues like Michelle said. Thanks.
