shrink plastic tiles
I hope the nice people over at 4square and Jewelry by Jessica don't get mad, but their sites are just so darn inspiring. These are made with shrink plastic. The first 2 are with colored pencils, and I'm not entirely happy with the color saturation. The circles are drawn with marker. Even my crude drawings look pretty good when shrunk down. The instruction sheet mentioned that Gocco inks also work. I gotta try that. I also want some of the plastic you can put through the printer.

I love her necklaces, too! I actually bought one last week but I think I'm going to eventually *have* to try it myself. Yours turned out really good - I'm impressed that you could get such good detail using colored pencils...my colored pencil Shrinky Dinks always turn out kinda smeary....

I actually have been on the lookout for the shrinky paper that goes through the printer too ever since I saw 4square site. I wanted to find it locally but no luck these past few weeks so I'm gonna have to look online I guess.

I think these turned out really great! I am always amazed what people do with shrinky dink paper :) You've inspired me to give it another try.

out of desparation one evening (making shrinky dinks for Brownies to color in and shrink) I just ran my regular, bargain basement shrinky dink paper through my inkjet printer. Perfect results. Mind you, I was just printing black outline graphics, but there you go.

The plastic paper that you put through your printer is cool however REMEMBER to spray it with a fixative after youve shrunk them! And don't try putting them on clothing as I did for tags because when washed they are back to their beautiful whiteness :/ that was a bummer to find out*

Thanks for all the comments! Thanks for the tip, Dawn. I'll have to try mine in the printer. I've got a bunch of sheets, so it would really be nice if it works and I don't have to buy another pack. Karen: I got my paper at a local art store. There's also a Klutz kit you can find all sorts of places.

There is special Shrinky Dinks paper just for ink jet printers. You can do photos and printing but remember to lighten what ever your doing since it become "9 times brighter" and to spray or paint on a protective coating.

These are lovely- but how do you make sure the colours don't fade? I made some shrinkles pendants, and tried both pencils and pens, but they faded after a couple of weeks..

You can buy the printer paper at www.shrinkydinks.com for $8.50 for 6 sheets. I am printing my son's photo onto them and using them as an embellishment for his Christening invite. They work well!!
